We are HAVS Compensation Solicitors
Our solicitors are experts in industrial disease claims, including claims for Hand Arm Vibration Syndrome (HAVS), which is also commonly referred to as White Finger. Our solicitors speak to hundreds of clients each year who are experiencing problems with their hands and fingers and one of the most common question we are asked is ‘can I claim for HAVS?’.
Claims for HAVS are very complex but the solicitors at Nigel Askew have years of experience in successfully winning industrial disease claims for our clients and provide an excellent standard of legal advice.
To discuss a potential HAVS claim for compensation, call us today.
Can I Claim For HAVS?
Our industrial disease solicitors will make the process of claiming compensation as straightforward as we can.
Our expert solicitors will start by taking a detailed account of your working history and establish where you were exposed to vibration throughout your career. Due to our many years of experience, we will be able to quickly establish the prospects of a successful claim during an initial phone call so contact us today to find out if we can help you claim compensation for HAVS.
Common symptoms of Hand Arm Vibration Syndrome (HAVS)
There are many symptoms associated with HAVS, which include:
- Blanching and whitening of fingers and fingertips and hands;
- Tingling sensations and/or pins and needles in the affected areas;
- Localised numbness or cold sensation;
- General weakness in affected areas;
- Extreme sensitivity to cold weather conditions, manifest in a worsening of symptoms; and
- Loss of ability to perform everyday tasks such as tying shoelaces or doing up buttons.
Furthermore, the symptoms of HAVS may become so uncomfortable and incapacitating that victims will be unable to work and earn money, become depressed, suffer chronic pain or have trouble sleeping.
Who can Claim HAVS Compensation?
If you have worked with handheld machinery during your working life and are now experiencing severe problems and pain and discomfort in your hands and fingers, the expert solicitors at Nigel Askew can advise you on a potential claim for compensation.
Some of the most common professions that our clients work in include:
- Gangermen and labourers
- Shop fitters

No Win No Fee HAVS Compensation Claims
Almost all our claims for HAVS are funded by Conditional Fee Agreements. These agreements are commonly referred to as either a “CFA” or a “No Win No Fee agreement”. The nature of these agreements means that law firms take all the financial risk and not the client. If a claim fails, the law firm is not paid and the client does not have to pay any solicitor’s fees for their time. For taking this risk, it is common for law firms to agree with a client that they will be paid up to 25% of the client’s HAVS compensation award at the end of a successful claim. Law firm’s fees are mostly paid by the insurers of your employers, under the terms of their employer’s liability insurance policies.
We do not require our industrial disease clients, including HAVS clients, to pay any upfront fees to get a claim up and running.
How long will a HAVS claim take to settle?
Every industrial disease claim is different and HAVS cases are notoriously complex which is why you need an expert solicitor on your side.
There are a number of factors to consider when thinking about how long a HAVS claim may take to settle, including the severity of your injuries, the number of employers which have exposed you to vibration and whether you can still work.
Rest assured, our HAVS solicitors are experts and will guide you through the process of claiming and ensure your claim is evidentially as strong as it can be.
