Our NFCI Solicitors can advise you today
Symptoms of Non-Freezing Cold Injuries usually occur after exposure to sustained periods of cold or wet weather, with unsatisfactory or insufficient socks, footwear and PPE. After prolonged exposure to wet or cold weather the affected individual soldier will notice an altered sensation, usually very painful, when warming up in a bath or shower. They may then notice their feet showing short periods of blanching (whitening) followed by redness, swelling and bouts of intense pain.
The effects of non-freezing cold injuries can last several months and in some extreme cases several years, resulting in the loss of a military career by way of a medical discharge and an inability to gain work in employment in normal civilian life.
If you have been diagnosed with a NFCI as a result of your military career then we can advise you on a claim for compensation.
We offer free phone consultations
From our base in Lincolnshire, we represent members of the Armed Forces in a variety of military related claims, including for NFCI claims.
We understand that you may have lots of unanswered questions relating to a potential claim, which is why we offer all new NFCI enquiries a free and no obligation initial consultation where we will discuss the merits of your potential claim.
We will ask you about your military career, your exposure to cold and wet weather, your kit and your injuries. We will also request to see your military medical records.
A senior solicitor will handle your claim from start to finish and work as hard as we can to ensure your claim is successful.
How much can you claim?
The value of claims for NFCI vary depending on the severity of your injuries, whether you have been medically downgraded or discharged from your duties and on your employment prospects in civilian life.
We have helped clients in your exact position successfully claim compensation for their NFCI’s.
- We represented a member of the Navy claim over £300,000 for his non-freezing cold injury. He was not provided with the correct PPE during underwater training exercises and went on to develop a serious NFCI. He was medically discharged from his duties and suffers symptoms to this day.
- Our solicitors also represented a member of the Army claim over £146,000 for his non-freezing cold injury. He was exposed to extreme conditions during training exercises in the Brecon Beacons and not provided with the correct PPE. He went on to develop a NFCI and was medically discharged from his duties. He suffers from NFCI related symptoms to this day.
Every claim for a non-freezing cold injury is different and the value of your potential claim could be worth less or considerably more than the examples above.

How much does it cost to claim?
We don’t charge our military clients any fees to get a claim up and running.
If we believe your potential claim has good prospects of success, we will ask that you enter into a No Win No Fee agreement with us.
The nature of these agreements mean that we take all the financial risk and not you. If a claim fails, our law firm is not paid and you do not pay any of our fees for the time we have spent on your case up to that point.
For taking this risk, it is common for all law firms to agree with a client that they will be paid a % of their compensation award at the end of a successful claim.
Your compensation and our other fees are paid by the MoD.
